ChatGPT write and Help Me Write are the same intent: start a paragraph. Bring the point with you, then edit the draft.
A GPT and the normal composer
Help Me Write is a custom GPT: a chat with instructions someone saved, listed on chatgpt.com. ChatGPT write, as a search, is broader. You do not need that GPT. A normal chat with a clear prompt does the same class of task, and you can see the instructions because you wrote them.
Custom GPTs can be useful when they ask you questions before drafting. They can also hide a style you did not choose. If the draft has a tone you cannot explain, switch to a normal chat and use the prompt on the writing page.
The smallest useful ask
Write four sentences to my landlord asking to move the inspection from Tuesday to Thursday. Polite, specific, no extra apology. That is a complete task. 'Help me write' with no object produces a template.
After the draft, change one concrete detail so the message is yours: the time, the reason, the thank-you you would actually say. Sending the draft untouched is how two tenants end up with the same letter.

- No. It is optional. Ordinary ChatGPT can write the same email or paragraph if your prompt includes the reader and the point.
- Why is the GPT's answer different each visit?
- The instructions on a custom GPT can change, and the model does not freeze a style. Keep a prompt you control if you need a repeatable voice.
- Can it write in another language?
- Yes. Name the language. For Tagalog, Urdu, Portuguese, or Marathi, the translation guides are a better checklist than a generic write prompt.
